Neotectonic and topographic evolution of the Bitlis-Zagros Fold-Thrust Belt, SE Turkey

The Bitlis-Zagros Fold-Thrust Belt is one of the world?s largest deformation zones, extending from Eastern Mediterranean in southern Turkey to south Iran. This zone partitioned between different structures; however, little known about relative activities these structures and their effects on topography. An area located northern part Bitlis- Zagros Belt, just Anatolian Plateau was studied detail analyze effect active tectonism topographic development. such as Hakkâri Şirvan Fault Segments evolution Kato Folds Sinebel Valley were investigated understand fold thrust fault activity. Geomorphic indices used, HC, HI, SR, Ksn together with rose analysis based bedding measurements. Investigation folding region indicates effective stress regime precollision NW-SE compression direction. structures, postcollision developed due N-S directional compression, are shown here have topography region. study has uplift rate highest areas where pure faults (0.4 mm year?1), lower transfer (0.2 0.4 year?1) segments. As a result this study, it concluded that main controlling not only faults, but also develop zone.
